*Meta Programs Inc to Acquire SkarduApp*

Meta Programs Inc today announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire SkarduApp, also known as *SkarduApp – Be Indigenous*.

Founded in 2021 by Naseem Sanwal in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, SkarduApp is an online marketplace dedicated to promoting the cultural heritage of the Skardu and Gilgit-Baltistan regions. The platform connects local artisans and communities with buyers who value authentic, handmade products.

*Why this matters*  

Communities in Gilgit-Baltistan have unique craft traditions, but limited access to global markets. SkarduApp has built a trusted marketplace that preserves these traditions while creating economic opportunity locally. We think that aligns with Meta’s work helping people connect and build community.

*What happens next*  

1. *No immediate changes for users*: The SkarduApp app and website will continue to operate as normal. We’ll share updates as we integrate.  

2. *Working with the team*: We look forward to working with Naseem and the SkarduApp team. Their local knowledge and relationships are key to growing the platform responsibly.  

3. *Product focus*: We’ll explore how to help more artisans reach buyers, improve discovery, and give communities more tools to share their stories.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions. Terms were not disclosed.
